RTÉ scored a ratings hit last weekend when Sunday's episode of Popstars was watched by 878,000 viewers.
The show outperformed the competition with a 60.7% share overall and a 71% share with 15 to 24 year olds.
Over 5,000 Popstars hopefuls vied for a place on the RTÉ programme and the winning band, 6, is set to break into the international market.
Five members of the band were revealed on Sunday's programme after one member was dropped when it was discovered that she was not over 18. The sixth member will be revealed next Sunday.
RTÉ has invested heavily in the band in a commercial deal where the station will recoup on the band's success.
