Guest of Honour Gabriel Byrne will present three awards at the Irish Film Ball in Dublin tonight.
The UIP Director's Awards are the largest of their kind in the country with a prize fund of €29,000.
The three categories are Best Director – Feature Film, Best Director – Live Action Short and Best Director – Animation Short.
Gabriel Byrne will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at tonight's ceremony, presented by John Boorman, the director who gave him his feature debut in 'Excalibur'.
