The Film Institute of Ireland is to bestow a Lifetime Achievement award on Irish actor Gabriel Byrne.
A prolific worker, Byrne has starred in Hollywood films 'The Usual Suspects' and 'Millers Crossing' and Irish films 'Into the West' and 'In the Name of the Father'. The Dublin born actor now lives in New York.
Byrne will receive his award from film director John Boorman, who gave the actor his feature film debut in 'Excalibur'.
Director Vinnie Murphy is also expected to win an award for 'Accelerator'. The ceremony will take place in Dublin this Friday.
