Film director Sam Mendes has confirmed that he is having an affair with the actress Kate Winlet.
“Yes, we are having a relationship. It’s early days, and we are very happy,” said Mendes.
The director denied he played a role in ending Winslet’s three-year marriage to Jim Threapleton.
Speaking in Los Angeles, Mendes said: “I was very careful to ensure that I was not endangering her marriage. It was already over, and I came along well after.”
