New Order honoured at dance awards

New Order have been awarded for their influential role in shaping the British dance music scene.

The band were honoured with an outstanding achievement prize at the Muzik magazine awards held at Shoreditch, East London.

Frontman Bernard Sumner, said: "I think we've only ever won three awards in our career so far and this is the third."

Other winners include Fatboy Slim, with best video for 'Weapon Of Choice' and 'Touch Me' by Rui Da Silva was named best single. Chill-out heroes Zero 7 were named best new artists and Basement Jaxx, were awarded the title of best group.

Among the dance award winners were Zero 7 as best new artist. Felix Da Housecat scooped best album and 'Finally' by Kings of Tomorrow was named Best Ibiza tune.

The award for top dance event went to Creamfields, The Avalanches were named best live act and the title of best DJ went to Welshman, Sasha.
