Actor Ian Lavender, famous for his role as the bungling Pike in the comedy ‘Dad’s Army’, has been signed up to make a screen return in BBC soap EastEnders.
Lavender, 55, is an avid EastEnders fan and will play a gay character with whom the sharp-tongued Pauline Fowler falls in love.
He will be seen arriving in Albert Square in November, as his character turns up to help out on a pantomime.
Up to now Lavender has focused on a stage career.
