Limp Bizkit, REM ask for tolerance

Limp Bizkit have appealed to fans not to take part in racist attacks on Muslims in retaliation for last week’s terrorist attacks in the US.

Speaking on the band’s website, guitarist Wes Borland urged fans not to look for revenge by attacking “people who had nothing to do with these incidents”.

“Please try to understand that these are hate crimes against innocent people who are your neighbours. This needs to be a time for reaching out to others, not accusing them. Don’t be a racist,” said Borland.

R.E.M. have also added to the chorus of artists appealing for calm, as they called on people to “keep in mind the values of tolerance and respect underpinning out country and society”.
