Booker Prize shortlist announced

The Booker Prize shortlist for 2001 has been announced in London.

The shortlist is ‘True History of the Kelly Gang’ by Peter Carey, ‘Atonement’ by Ian McEwan, ‘Oxygen’ by Andrew Miller, ‘number9dream’ by David Mitchell, ‘The Dark Room’ by Rachel Seiffert and ‘Hotel World’ by Ali Smith.

This year saw a Booker Prize long-list for the first time in the prize’s history. The six novels that were shortlisted were chosen from an original list of twenty-four.

The Booker Prize is awarded to the best full-length novel of the year written by a writer from Britain, Ireland or the Commonwealth.
