A preliminary report into the plane crash that killed singer Aaliyah and eight others has confirmed that the aircraft was too heavy.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the total weight of the plane at take-off "substantially exceeded" its limit.
The plane's manufacturers had previously said that too many people were on board the Cessna 402B, and it has been established that the pilot was not licensed to fly it.
No date has been set for the final publication of the NTSB report.
