Aaliyah's album tops chart

Aaliyah's latest album has gone to number one in the US, in the wake of her tragic death in a plane crash.

The self-titled album had fallen in the charts to number 26 after its release six weeks ago, but sales following the tragedy have boosted its position.

'Aaliyah' has beaten off competition from nu-metal band Slipknot and r'n'b diva Mary J. Blige.

It has hit the top spot now despite peaking when first released at number two. Sales increased by half just twenty-four hours after her death.
