Row over Aaliyah's funeral

A row has erupted in New York, following a newspaper columnist's description of Aaliyah's funeral as over the top.

The New York Post columnist, Rod Dreher, also said that Aaliyah was an "undistinguished singer of forgettable pop songs."

Black leader Rev. Al Sharpton has criticised the newspaper and writer, calling for an apology over the "abysmal, shocking and racist" column.

The paper is standing by Dreher saying that he had a right to express an opinion.
