Experts were today beginning an investigation into a plane crash that killed American soul star Aaliyah, amid claims the flight had been dangerously overloaded.
The 22-year-old soul singer – who was the niece of singing legend Gladys Knight - died along with eight others on Saturday when the plane she was traveling in crashed just seconds after taking off from Abaco Island in the Bahamas.
Six people died instantly, among them the singer, when the plane plunged into swamp-land close to the airport. The remaining three passengers died in hospital after being pulled from the burning wreckage.
A local charter pilot claims he overheard a dispute between the pilot and his passengers over the weight of camera and sound equipment on the plane.
