Irish contestant Brian has won 'Big Brother'. Brian received four million votes to win the £70,000 prize.
The gay Ryanair cabin-crew supervisor from Kildare said he was pleased that people have accepted him for being himself.
The housemate cried and said he was in shock as he was greeted by fireworks and chants of support on leaving the house.
Irish bookies who had offered early odds of 8/1 on Brian walking away with the prize had dropped the odds to 1/5 by yesterday.
Brian and Welsh hairdresser Helen were the final two contestants on the second series of the show.
A total of 7,255,094 votes were lodged by telephone and interactive television; 4% for Dean, 37% for Helen and 58% for Brian.
The total number of votes cast in the final week of this series was less than last year's 7.4 million. Five pence from each vote went to charity.
