Virgin Radio has confirmed that DJ Chris Evans has been fired from his job as the station's breakfast show host.
A company spokesperson said the 35-year-old star, who has not turned up for work for the last 6 days, was in breach of contract.
The departure is expected to cost Evans millions of pounds under an agreement thrashed out when he sold the station to the Scottish Media Group last year.
