Two-time Academy Award winner Jack Lemmon has died aged 76.
One of America's best loved actors, Lemmon died of complications from cancer in hospital in Los Angeles last night, with his wife and family by his side.
He was probably best known for his partnership with Walter Matthau in 'The Odd Couple', teaming up with him again in 1993's 'Grumpy Old Men'. He also starred with Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis in the Billy Wilder classic comedy 'Some Like It Hot'.
Lemmon won a Best Supporting Actor for 'Mister Roberts' in 1955. He received Academy Award nominations for The Apartment', (in which he played beset upon apartment owner C.C. Baxter), 'Days of Wine and Roses' (1962),'The China Syndrome' (1979) and 'Tribute'.
He won the Academy for Best Actor for 'Save The Tiger' and more recently he had a role in the David Mamet film, 'Glengarry Glen Ross'.
