Jack Kerouac's beat novel 'On The Road' is to be turned into a film by Francis Ford Coppola.
Joel Schumacher, who made the Batman films, is said to have agreed to direct the project, with Brad Pitt starring.
'On The Road' is about Kerouac's travels through the US and Mexico with drifter Neal Cassady during the post war years.
Pitt is to play Dean Moriarty, the character based on Cassady while Billy Crudup is reportedly expected to play Sal Paradise, the part of Kerouac.
