Gorillaz hit Dublin this weekend

Gorillaz, "the world's first virtual band", play their first live Irish date ever at Dublin's Olympia this Sunday 24 June.

Gorillaz are a group of animated characters - 2CD, Noodle, Russell and Murdoc - as created by Blur singer Damon Albarn and illustrator Jamie 'Tank Girl' Hewlett, featuring US hip-hop producer Dan 'The Automator' Nakamura, Talking Head Tina Weymouth and rapper Del Tha Funky Homosapien.

The group made their 'live' debut at London Scala in March when images of the animated alter-egos of Albarn et al were projected onto a screen stretched across the front of the stage. The group played behind the screen, ignoring calls from the audience to "show yourselves".

Gorillaz's eponymous debut album features the singles 'Tomorrow Comes Today' and 'Clint Eastwood'. The new single '19-2000' will be released on 25 June.
