'Tomb Raider' has fought its way to the top of the US box office in its opening weekend despite poor reviews.
The film, which stars Angelina Jolie, took $48.2m (£34.3m) in its first weekend. The figure is thought to be a record for a film with a female lead.
Critics slammed the film, calling it a "tedious bore", although Jolie was praised for her performance.
The animated 'Shrek' is the biggest grossing film of the year.
