The actress who plays Alma in TV soap Coronation Street has said she "hated the way her character was killed off".
Amanda Barrie said the show's producers betrayed her trust.
She had understood that Alma's death from cervical cancer would be treated with the sensitivity it deserved, but the actress now says Alma's sudden death was used as a crass ratings winner.
