Screen legend Anthony Quinn dies

The Oscar-winning actor Anthony Quinn has died in hospital in the United States.

He was 86.

Mr Quinn had been receiving treatment at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts for pneumonia and respiratory failure.

Born in Mexico in 1915, the actor later moved to East Los Angeles where he earned a living as a butcher, street preacher and boxer.

He graduated from small stage and B-Movie roles to leading man status and starred in over 150 films including 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Zorba The Greek'.

During a 65-year career he won two Best Supporting Actor Oscars for 'Viva Zapata' in 1952 and 'Lust for Life' in 1956.
