IMMA celebrates tenth birthday

The Irish Museum of Modern Art is celebrating its tenth anniversary this weekend, with a series of events at their premises in Kilmainham in Dublin.

The celebrations coincide with the announcement last night of the winner of this year's Glen Dimplex Award which was won by American Matthew Barney.

Selected works from the museum's collection, a new exhibition by Rebecca Horn and the unlikely sculpture display, 'Hatforms' by Philip Treacy are among the highlights of this weekend's activities.

Speaking at the launch of the celebrations, IMMA's acting director, Philomena Byrne, said that contemporary Irish Art has developed and flourished along with the gallery over the last ten years.
