REM guitarist Peter Buck has said he is "sorry and embarrassed" after being charged in connection with an alleged air rage incident at the weekend.
The charges include two counts of assault against British Airways crew members.
Buck was granted bail after the case was adjourned until 18 June.
REM are due to perform at the South Africa Freedom Day concert in London this Sunday.
