Joey Ramone dies aged 49

Joey Ramone, front man of the punk rock pioneers the Ramones, has died at the age of 49. According to the band’s website, he died in a New York hospital where he was being treated for lymphatic cancer. The band never made it into the Top 40 in the United States, but did score a hit with the song 'Sheena was a Punk Rocker' in Britain. Other well known songs by the Ramones include 'Hey Ho Let's Go' and 'I Wanna be Sedated'.
