Mariah Carey signs with Virgin

Pop diva Mariah Carey has ended her tenure with Columbia Records and has signed a deal with rival Virgin Records. Columbia confirmed on Monday that the multi platinum-selling artist had left the label where she had been a fixture since 1990. The Long Island-born chanteuse has recorded more than a dozen No. 1 singles-more than any other female solo artist in pop-and has sold a total of 140 million albums and singles worldwide. Carey is slated to release her first album on Virgin in late summer.
