U2 manager Paul McGuinness has again said that the band is ready to play a second concert in Slane as long as the legal hurdles can be overcome. He said that the powers that be seemed to be moving in that direction but that the foot-and-mouth crisis was also a problem to consider.
McGuinness was speaking as the band opened their world tour in Florida on Saturday night. Fans from all over the world, including Ireland, gathered in Sunrise, just outside Fort Lauderdale, for the kickoff of the 'Elevation' world tour. Unlike previous U2 tours, the 'Elevation' stage design is simple but the set includes old favourites like 'Where The Streets Have No Name' and 'New Year's Day'; the Grammy award-winning 'Beautiful Day' also features. At one point during the gig Bono fell off the stage and while visibly shaken, was able to continue.
