In the US the FBI had announced it is investigating a plot to kidnap 'Gladiator' star Russell Crowe. The agency, which does not normally comment on its work, decided to make an exception in this case because of media speculation in recent days. It had been reported that the 36-year-old Oscar nominee was flanked by FBI agents dressed in tuxedos when he attended the Golden Globes in January and received similar protection from British police when he arrived in London for the Baftas and the premiere of his latest film 'Proof of Life'.
