Downey Actor's Guild nomination for McBeal role

One day after appearing in court on drug-related charges Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild for his work on the television sitcom 'Ally McBeal'. Downey is up against fellow 'Ally' star Peter MacNicol for best actor in a comedy series. Last month Downey won a Golden Globe for 'Ally McBeal'.

Downey's court hearing has been postponed until February after he pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine, the prescription drug valium and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested in a Palm Springs hotel room last November.
