'Gladiator' scoops critics' awards

The Ridley Scott film 'Gladiator' has won five awards at the Broadcast Film Critics Association's Awards in the US. Russell Crowe took the award for Best Actor for his portrayal of avenging gladiator Maximus; Crowe won the award last year for his performance in 'The Insider'. Crowe's 'Gladiator' co-star, Joaquin Phoenix, won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the insane emperor Commodus and his performances in 'Quills' and 'The Yards'. 'Gladiator' also took awards for Cinematography, Production Design and Music.
