Young Irish actor wins US critics' award

Colin Farrell has been named Best Actor of the Year by the Boston Society of Film Critics. The young Irish actor won the title for his role in 'Tigerland', a film by Joel Schumacher. It is thought that the award will increase Farrell's chance of an Oscar nomination. Twenty-four year old Farrell from Dublin is best known for his role as Danny in TV's 'Ballykissangel'. He also appeared in a supporting role in the film 'Ordinary Decent Criminal'.

Farrell has recently finished filming the part of Jesse James in the film 'American Outlaws' alongside Kathy Bates and Timothy Dalton, and a part originally intended for Jim Carrey in another Schumacher film, 'Phone Booth'.
