A court case, which could resolve a bitter internal row at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, has been adjourned. But it has been claimed that the state may lose a huge donation of modern art from the United States because of the row. The Director of the museum at Kilmainham in Dublin, Declan McGonagle, is claiming his legal rights have been infringed by a decision to advertise his job. He is seeking an injunction to stop the museum advertising the position.
It has been reported that an American couple, Kent and Vikki Logan, who have built up one of the world's finest collections of modern art are considering withdrawing their offer to give Dublin a major part of their collection because of the dispute. The court case is due to proceed on Wednesday.
