The conference, which focuses on mobile content creation for journalists, runs for three days with 60 speakers discussing the application of mobile journalism in the modern media world.
These discussions and presentations range from creating news on Snapchat and using 360 degree camera technology to how news can be created for virtual reality headphones.
Speakers have flown in from an array of countries, including Germany, Sweden, Australia and the US, to share their knowledge from working with the technology first hand.
Over 30 exhibitors are spread across the conference, showcasing the latest technology in mobile journalism from tech companies such as DJI and Manfrotto.
Malcolm Russell, a Scottish developer working with Insta360, described what drew their organisation to MoJoCon, "We came to MoJoCon because of the diverse pool of people coming here.
"We want to put 360 cameras in front of influential multipliers in the MoJo industry and Glen offered us that when he asked us to come and present here."
Paul Shepard from Live U explained what the exhibitors get from MoJoCon: "What we get is really important we get feedback on what we are developing."
Alongside exhibits, there are 15 workshops in place over the three days to give delegates hand on experience in the different technology on show.
There are six 'fringe' events that take place during the conference in locations around the city which are free for the public to attend. These events were created to bring MoJoCon to a wider community.
These events are located on the NUIG campus, the GMIT campus and the Galway Film Centre among others.
RTÉ have placed a team of 25 MoJo journalists working at the conference to create multimedia content across their online platforms including twitter, RTE.ie and a live tracker.
