This year, Jane Ryan, in Fethard, Co Tipperary, is starting a new Christmas tradition with her three children Ben, Emily-Mai and Harry. Instead of the usual chocolate advent calendar, they are doing a Reverse Advent Calendar. Each day during Advent they will put nice household goods into a hamper, which they will donate to a local charity closer to Christmas. For Jane Christmas is all about giving to others - not about yourself. And she is trying to teach her children that not everyone has what they have.
