Moya Brennan remembered - classics from the RTÉ Archives

Tributes are being paid to Irish music icon Moya Brennan, singer, songwriter, harpist and lead singer of Clannad, who has died aged 73.

Below, we revisit some of the many memorable appearance the Gaoth Dobhair native made on RTÉ and TG4 over the years.

A vital force in music for over five decades, Brennan continued to record and release new music well into this decade - here she's joined by Liam O'Connor for a performance of Strong In Numbers on The Late Late Show in 2021.

The TG4 documentary Moya offered a definitive portrait of her life and career of Moya Brennan - here's a clip featuring her performing alongside her two children Aisling and Paul Jarvis, joined by Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and her daughter Nia Byrne, plus Cormac de Barra, performing Cad É Sin Don Té Sin:

Clannad remained a vital force in Irish music from their foundation in 1970 until their farewell tour, which saw them play their final show in London's Royal Albert Hall in 2024 - here they are performing In A Lifetime (with Bell X1's Paul Noonan filling in for Bono) on The Late Late Show in 2022:

A life-long champion of Irish language and song, here's Moya performing a gorgeous version of Goidé Sin Don Té Sin live from Tigh Ciss Madden for an episode of the TG4 series Geantraí, broadcast in 2011:

In 2019, ahead of receiving her Lifetime Achievement Award at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards, Moya joined the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir on the Late Late for a breathtaking performance of Down by the Sally Gardens - a showcase of her extraordinary talent.
