Dublin's Stella Cinema will host a special screening of Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-winning Once Upon a Time in Hollywood to mark the release of a new book exploring the film’s production.
The event takes place on Thursday, April 23rd and will feature author Jay Glennie discussing his new book on the making of Tarantino’s acclaimed film, in conversation with RTÉ Culture editor Derek O'Connor, followed by a screening at the iconic venue, recently named one of the world’s best cinemas by Time Out magazine.
Released in 2019, Tarantino's ninth feature earned ten Academy Award nominations, winning Best Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt and Best Production Design. Set in late-1960s Los Angeles, it follows fictional actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stuntman Cliff Booth (Pitt) as they navigate a changing film industry.
Glennie's book includes new interviews with DiCaprio, Pitt and Margot Robbie, alongside contributions from cast members such as Mikey Madison, Margaret Qualley, Austin Butler, Lena Dunham, Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Damian Lewis, Maya Hawke and Sydney Sweeney. It also features an introduction by Tarantino and is the first in a planned series examining his celebrated body of work.
A sequel, The Adventures of Cliff Booth, written by Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, with Pitt reprising his role, is due for release later this year.
The event is hosted by the Instagram account and podcast No Filler, which also contributes a monthly column to RTÉ Culture. Tickets go on sale on Friday, March 27th - find out more here.
