For her first public event as Laureate for Irish Fiction, Éilís Ní Dhuibhne was joined by Niall MacMonagle in the National Library of Ireland to discuss her writing career to date and her role as Laureate - watch their illuminating conversation below:

The over-arching theme of her Laureateship is 'The Island of Imagination', exploring the question of "What makes a good story?", as well as celebrating fiction in the Irish language and other European languages.

A series of free events around the country will be held in the coming months for the public and all those interested in Irish literary fiction and writing - find out more about the Laureate for Irish Fiction here
