Since he graduated from Dublin's Lir Academy in 2018, Éanna Hardwicke has proved himself an actor of great range – early work included roles in Sally Rooney’s Normal People, and the horror film Vivarium.
From there, he has gone on to play a sinister predator in The Sixth Commandment, editor of the BBC’s Newsnight programme in A Very Royal Scandal, and we’ll see him as Roy Keane later this year in the much-anticipated film Saipan.
On Saturday 1st February, Éanna takes on the role of Northern Irish poet Louis MacNeice in a staged reading at Dublin's Gate Theatre of his autobiographical narrative poem, Autumn Journal.
This is the poet’s masterpiece, written in the last months of 1938, a time of great tension in Europe and some sadness in MacNeice’s own personal life.
Ahead of the performance, Eanna talked to RTÉ Arena - listen above.
