MUSIC: CHOICE MUSIC PRIZE

The shortlist for this year's RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2024 has been announced another outstanding year for homegrown talent, this year's shortlisted acts include A Lazarus Soul, Curtisy, Fontaines D.C., Orla Gartland, KNEECAP, NewDad, Niamh Regan, Róis, Silverbacks and SPRINTS. The overall winner will be announced at a special event live from Vicar St, Dublin on March 6th - in the meantime, listen to this year's shortlisted albums here.

EVENT: MEMOIRS OF A SNAIL

Oscar-winning writer and director Adam Elliot made one of the great animated movies of the 21st century, sad and beautiful stop-motion masterpiece Mary & Max. Now he's back with a heartfelt and hilarious chronicle of the life of a book-loving, snail-collecting misfit (voiced by Succession star Sarah Snook) finding her confidence and silver linings amongst the clutter of everyday life. It gets better - the filmmaker will attend a preview of Memoirs Of A Snail at Dublin's Lighthouse Cinema on Tuesday, January 14th, and discuss his movie afterwards with RTÉ Culture editor Derek O'Connor - find out more here.
