BOOK: PLAYING DEAD

You might know Robert Sheehan from his TV roles in Misfits, Love/Hate and The Umbrella Academy - later this month he takes to the stage in Mark O'Rowe's new play Reunion for the Dublin Theatre Festival. FILM: SPEAK NO EVIL

James McAvoy has come a long way since his TV breakthrough 20 years ago in Shameless; these days the versatile Scots actor alternates between eclectic passion projects (like a recent acclaimed stage production of Cyrano De Bergerac) and big Hollywood movies - here, he transforms himself into a hulking brute for this US remake of the acclaimed Danish psychological thriller, starring alongside talented Dubliner Aisling Franciosi (Cinemas nationwide)

THEATRE: AWFUL AUNTIE

Following their entertaining production of Gangsta Granny, Birmingham Stage Company return to Ireland with a new production of David Walliams' bestselling adventure story, suitable for ages 6+ and featuring a very large owl, a very small ghost and a very awful Auntie! (Gaiety Theatre, Dublin, until September 15th)

TV: THE BOY THAT NEVER WAS

After their son is presumed dead in a Moroccan earthquake, a couple's world is turned upside down when they spot a boy in Dublin, leading them on a desperate search for the truth... Based on the novel by Karen Perry, RTÉ One's gripping new Sunday night show stars Colin Morgan and Toni O'Rourke in a twisty-turny psychological thriller - if you missed the first two episodes, catch up here via RTÉ Player and then tune in to RTÉ One on Sundays at 9.30pm.

STREAMING: THE PERFECT COUPLE

Aussie icon Nicole Kidman has found a solid groove in recent years fronting a series of top-tier TV projects, from Big Little Lies and The Undoing to Nine Perfect Strangers, Special Ops: Lioness and now this Netflix mini-series based on the page turner by Elin Hilderbrand, a gamourous murder-mystery with La Kidman leading a killer ensemble that includes Irish duo Eve Hewson and Jack Reynor and French screen legend Isabelle Adjani (Netflix, now streaming)
