The death has been announced of singer, musician, performer and architect Eoin French, who performed under the name Talos. He was 36.
The Cork-born musician died after a short illness, with the news announced publicly via Talos's social media accounts.

Talos released a trio of critically acclaimed albums, winning a place on RTÉ Choice Music Prize Album Of The Year shortlist for their debut, Wild Alee (2017).
Two further albums followed, Far Out Dust (2019) and Dear Chaos (2022), with Talos receiving a further Choice Music Prize nomination for Artist Of The Year in 2023.

Reviewing Dear Chaos, Irish Times critic Tony Clayton-Lea wrote: "Those fully acquainted with Talos's material will know it comprises pop songs but as not we know them, yet across Dear Chaos the familiar is disrupted even more with beautiful touches that subliminally remind the listener of Sigur Ros, the Blue Nile, Radiohead and other not necessarily niche music acts but certainly those that aren’t staples of daytime radio play."
A popular live performer, Talos featured at a number of major Irish music events, including appearances at the All Together Now and Sounds From A Safe Harbour festivals in 2023.
In 2022, French provided the soundtrack for writer and performer Emmet Kirwan's play Accents, with his work earning an Irish Times Theatre Awards nomination for Best Soundscape.
His 2023 single Solarr featured vocals by Irish-Sierra Leonean singer Loah.
Eoin French studied at the Cork Centre for Architectural Education (CCAE), run by CIT and UCC while also serving as a Director at the DATUM Architecture Studio.
A number of members of the Irish music community paid tribute online to Eoin French and his work as Talos, with music promoters MCD remembering French as a "masterful composer, talented songwriter and enthralling performer", while adding "Eoin stunned audiences at sold-out headline shows and festivals both at home and abroad. His presence across the industry will truly be missed."
