"To travel in Kilkenny is to travel in time," says Vincent Woods. "The medieval city pulses at night with the beat of youth and celebration… There's something very precious here: not just the fossils and ore from Castlecomer, the veins of marble that gave rise to buildings and the city’s name, the Three Sisters rivers or the splendour of old castles, monasteries and abbeys… It’s also the people, with their resilience, humour and sense of hospitality – and, of course, the abiding love of hurling,"
