Writer Paul Auster remembered by Colum McCann

Sad news from the world of books this week, as the death of Brooklyn-based author Paul Auster was announced on Wednesday morning.

Starting in the 1970s, Paul Auster published more than 30 books, from memoirs to novels to poetry. Notable works include Moon Place, his New York Trilogy (City of Glass, Ghosts and The Locked Room), Mr. Vertigo and the Booker Prize nominated 4 3 2 1.

His novel The Music Of Chance was adapted for the screen in 1993, and he later turned screenwriter with 1995's Smoke and film director with Lulu On The Bridge in 1998, partially filmed in Dublin.
