After winning an Olivier award for their production of Vivaldi's opera Bajazet in 2021, Irish National Opera with the Irish Baroque Orchestra is returning to the Italian master for L’Olimpaide - an ambitious show which will tour Ireland and be staged in three countries over the next year.
This work tells a story of power, love, and deception set in ancient Greece, around the Olympic Games - but the men of this Olympiad aren’t competing for medals of gold, but rather a princess’s hand in marriage.
