Mollie had her final stroke in April last year. Our brave little terrier had faced old age with good humour and a waggeldy tail, before finally breathing her last, nestled in my lap.

She had been a quirky little dog, short on brains but long on love, who had ambled into our life twelve years ago and made us laugh every day. Fergus, our tubby little Jack Russell, came over for a final sniff before retreating under the table.

We all grieved in our own way for the loss of Mollie Bán. She was laid to rest in the garden that afternoon, a spray of bright orange dahlias planted by her side...
