Comedian and actor Steve Coogan will tackle an iconic comedy role created by the legendary Peter Sellers in a forthcoming stage production, set for the Dublin stage in 2025.
Coogan will play Dr. Strangelove in a new stage adaptation of filmmaker Stanley Kubrick's classic 1964 cold war satire Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
The production, which premieres in London this October, will travel to Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for a two-week run in February 2025.

This jet-black comedy, about a rogue U.S. General who triggers a nuclear crisis, is being brought to the stage by Coogan's long-time collaborator Armando Iannucci, the creator of acclaimed TV comedy hits The Thick Of It and Veep, and Olivier Award winner Sean Foley.
Best known for his role as chatshow host Alan Partridge, Steve Coogan recently won rave reviews for a dramatic role as disgraced disc jockey Jimmy Saville in BBC's The Reckoning.

The actor, who has Irish roots, last appeared on the Dublin stage as Alan Partridge in a live comedy show, Stratagem, back in 2022.
Coogan, who will play multiple roles in the production, said: "The idea of putting Dr Strangelove on stage is daunting. A huge responsibility. It's also an exciting challenge, an opportunity to bring this timeless classic to a new audience.
"Knowing that I will be part of a creative team led by Sean Foley and Armando Iannucci means I will be working with the best people. Sean is a master of stage comedy and Armando and I started working with each other over 30 years ago. We made some memorable comedy together so it’s great to be collaborating with him once again."
Dr. Stranglove will play at The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from 05–22 Feb 2025 - tickets go on sale from Friday 8th March at 9.00 am.
