In Possesion - artist Amanda Coogan on her deaf opera

Next week the artist Amanda Coogan, composer Linda Buckley and the Dublin Theatre of the Deaf, collaborate to stage a new opera called Possession at Dublin's Project Arts Centre.

The opera is based on a script by the Irish writer Teresa Deevy, who was herself deaf, and it tells the story of An Taín as told through the eyes of Queen Medb, and Irish Sign Language, experimental sonic and vocal composition will be used in the staging.

RTÉ Arena were joined in studio by the director and designer of Possession, artist Amanda Coogan, and the artistic director of the Dublin Theatre of the Deaf, Lianne Quigley - listen above.
