EVENT: DUBLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
DIFF returns for its 2024 edition, dedicated as ever to presenting the best in contemporary and classic world cinema. The power of Irish storytelling is in full effect, from the world premiere of Marian Quinn's anti-war epic Twig which opens the Festival on 22nd February, through to Pat Collins’ highly anticipated adaptation of John McGahern’s novel That They Might Face The Rising Sun, which closes the Festival on 2nd March. In town to accept VOLTA career achievement awards are Oscar-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen and French screen icon Isabelle Huppert (Various venues, Feb 22 – Mar 2, 2024)

In this remarkable short documentary directed by Anna Rodgers and produced by Zlata Filipovic, an unusual bond compels an Irish mother to travel to war torn Ukraine in order to bring her former surrogate and her family to safety. TELEVISION: BOOK CLUB
While on the subject of page turners, RTÉ One's popular book review series returns with a new title (we'd have gone with Gogglebooks), dipping once more into the conversations of eleven book clubs from across Ireland as they discuss literary classics, the latest releases and some old book club favourites - like all good book club get-togethers, their meetings go beyond just reviews!
