EVENT: ST. BRIGID'S DAY
Happy St. Brigid's Day! In Dublin, Brigit 2024 celebrates the spirit and legacy of the Celtic goddess Brigit and welcomes the first signs of Spring; this Dublin city-wide event features everything from walking tours and fairs to performances and workshops. Elsewhere, in Wicklow the Brigid 1500 Festival comprises a series of events and initiatives including festivals, concerts, talks, art commissions, illuminations, pilgrimages, and craft workshops, as well as a schools programme to cement St. Brigid's lasting legacy and a collaboration with Herstory. THEATRE: BELFAST GIRLS
Dundalk's An Táin Arts Centre celebrates 10 years with the Irish Premiere of Belfast Girls, by award-winning Dundalk playwright, Jaki McCarrick, with dates at the Lyric Belfast, Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda and Solstice Arts Centre, Navan. Set in 1850, Belfast Girls tells the story of five fierce young women who face their dark pasts on a ship bound for Australia, as they leave Belfast in search of a better life (Now touring)

MUSIC: DUBLIN BOWIE FESTIVAL
The annual celebration of all things David Bowie returns to the capital with an array of Bowie-inspired events, amongst them a very special concert featuring new arrangements of works by The Velvet Underground & David Bowie performed by Glasshouse Ensemble at Whelans, while the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will be joined by members of Bowie's band to honour his legacy, and play some of his greatest hits live at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre (Various venues, February 7th - 11th)

DANCE: WHAT NEXT DANCE FESTIVAL
Dance Limerick open their doors to a selection of fresh and exciting works taking place in dance today, gathering performers from across Ireland and internationally for three days of discovery and celebration; this year’s programme sheds light on questions of identity, community, memory and being together. For their closing event, they're hosting a Céilí featuring Palestinian, Afro-Brazilian and Ukrainian artists (Dance Limerick, 6-10th February) Also: The mighty São Paulo Dance Company make their Irish debut at the BGET theatre from 5th - 6th February with Anthem, an epic and emotionally charged ensemble piece for 14 dancers, celebrating the magic of Latin American dance.
