The author of the novels Zugzwang, Havoc in Its Third Year and The Catastrophist, Ronan Bennett has enjoyed a parallel career as a screenwriter, most recently with the acclaimed crime drama Top Boy, which ran for five seasons from 2011 to 2023.
Top Boy focussed on two male characters – drug gangsters Dushane and Sully – and the world they inhabit, the fictional London estate of Summerhouse.
Now Ronan has followed this up with a new novel Jaq: A Top Boy Story, in which he gives the lead role to a young lesbian character from the show.
