Comedy fans will be thrilled to learn that a brand new festival, filled to the brim with Irish talent, is coming to Drogheda this March.
With a line-up of comedic heavy-weights and rising stars - including Jason Byrne, Deirdre O'Kane, David McSavage, Emma Doran, Tony Cantwell, and Shane Daniel Byrne - the inaugural Drogheda Comedy Festival is set to thrill fans from from March 8 - 10, 2024.
Speaking on the new venture, comedian Barry Murphy said: "Drogheda is a fantastic venue for a comedy festival. There is a great tradition of live performance, state of the art venues, a great sense of community and everywhere is in walking distance. They also have Oliver Plunkett's head."

Stand-up Karl Spain added: "I'm really looking forward to the Festival in Louth. I think it's an underutilised part of the country when it comes to festivals and comedy. I really hope it's a success with all the acts coming. I'm really delighted to be a part of it and I hope to see you all there."
The three-day event is a celebration of laughter, culture, and community and is sure to be a highlight of a weekend packed with celebrations, including International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day.
The full line-up includes (deep breath): Deirdre O Kane, Killian Sundermann, Justine Stafford, Barry Murphy, Shane Daniel Byrne, Kevin McGahern, Tony Cantwell, Emma Doran, Sinead Quinlan, Ailish McCarthy, Joe Rooney, Sophia Cadogan, David McSavage, John Colleary, Danny O'Brien, Colum McDonnell, Kevin Gildea, Martin Angolo, Ed Sammon, and Sharon Mannion.

Ahead of the big event, Festival Production Manager James White said: "Drogheda is an oftentimes forgotten city when it comes to big names performing and the people behind this festival, Louth County Council and LOVE Drogheda BIDS, along with the festival venues, hope to change that for years to come.
"Some of Ireland's greatest comics will be here in March playing some incredible venues and we know that they will love this city and its atmosphere!"
