"It's not easy to photograph the shark-like fish known as the flapper skate.
At three metres wide, wing tip to wing tip, it’s a challenge to fit one inside the shot. Especially when you’re on a small boat, legs backed against wet fiberglass, abandoning your upper body to the air, and when leaning any further back will likely topple you into the Irish Sea.
But we’re jumping ahead. To photograph a flapper skate, first you need to catch one...."
